Part 3

After departing the bay area, we drove all night to Los Angeles. We rolled into LA in the morning and went straight to KXLU 88.9 to check in. KXLU for those of you who don't know, is an awesome college radio station in the LA area. It's located on the Loyola Mary Mont campus. Several amazing musicians including the Police, Beck and the Melvins have played there. After checkin' in we rented a hotel room in Englewood and slept like a couple of happy, hibernating bears. On a side note, everyone in LA thought we were crazy for staying in Englewood. We actually found it to be a very nice area. After resting it was off to the radio station to perform. Shortly after arriving we met Fred and Sherry. They run the weekly Demolisten show. We sent Demolisten a CD about a year or so earlier. They apparently enjoyed it and started playing MAJ fairly frequently. Fred and Sherry set the show up for us and made our stay in LA absolutely delightful. Check the music section of the site in the next week or show to hear the songs we played on KXLU. Here's some shots of KXLU.

After the show at KXLU we headed over to Spaceland for our second performance of the night. Spaceland is a super rad club located in one of the LA suburbs. We played with a kick-ass local band, the Black Widows. They're this really evil "surf" band. I don't think they like the surf title, but that's the best way I can describe them. They wore all black including black masks. This worked extremely well, because we all wore white that night. The ultimate battle of good and evil was fought on this eve. There was no winner, just a lot of fun! I took a few shots of these guys, but they're super shitty. The only photo I have of this show is here.

On the following day we were escorted to Venice Beach by Fred and Sherry. I've never seen so many freaks in one place in my entire life. It was great! I managed to get several shots of local "performers". Apparently when you take there photo you're supposed to give them a dollar. I think I went through 20 bucks that day solely on these street performers. Enjoy some photos of Venice Beach!

Shortly after leaving Venis Beach, we headed to San Diego. When we arrived in San Diego we headed straight to the club only to discover that we weren't playing. The guy working there was a total douche bag. He lied directly to our faces and said we never confirmed the show. After some craziness... the drummer for Tourettes Lautrec got us on the bill. Unfortunately we played first to people who were more interested in the Chargers game. By the time we finished the place was packed. Oh well you can't win them all. The best part of San Diego was the amazing mexican food restaurant we went to. Sorry there's no pictures. You're not missin' much.

After the show in San Diego, we were itchin' to get to Vegas..... so we drove all night. We pulled in Las Vegas around seven in the morning. We immediately went to Main Street Casino and started gambling and drinking complimentary margaritas.  A little bit later we went to my favorite casino...The Plaza. We continued to drink and gamble until noon. We ate a pretty bitchin' buffet and then napped till five. What ensued after that was a barrage of gambling and booze. Bacon who unfortunately doesn't like to gamble hit the sack around two. I lasted till about five ( $450 poorer ). Dug I believe hung in there till seven. Bob lasted till about seven thirty or so. Bob's highlights of the day included: hitting his number back to back in roulette for $120 and later hitting triple flaming sevens for $250....these wins however didn't cover his loses. Shane was the winner of the sleep deprivation contest in Vegas, he lasted till after nine in the morning. I had originally stated that Bob and Shane tied in this little contest. Shane however recently corrected me. Shane in the very last hour of gambling, slayed at the craps table. He rolled something like thirty times in a row and won back several hundred dollars lost that night. I didn't take in pictures in Vegas, but Doug manages a few. Here they are along with some pics of us leaving the next day.....two hours after Bob and Doug went to sleep.
