EUREKA! *cymbal crash*
The show was freakin' awesome last night! The only negative part
of the whole experience was that we missed the first 4 songs from The
Professional Superheroes. For those playing the home game, they
are a superhero-themed band that contains Russ <sp?> and Brendan
<sp?> from Fro the Lazy and Nobody's Star. They are some of
our favorite people in the world, and certainly in Eureka.
Anyway, we walked in right as they were playing "Super Confident Guy" I
couldn't contain my ecstatic joy! I guess they started the show
with "Something for the monkey". I can't believe we missed
it! Damn you Lost Coast Brewery! Wait... I'm sorry, you
were delicious. I take it back. Damn you steamed clams
taking so damned long! Tee hee.

Anyway we saw the rest of their set and I captured a few songs on
video, so we'll try and get some stills up on the site when we
return. We ran out of batteries a day or so ago for the digital
camera. You'd think that would be an easy situation to remedy,
but we've been pretty pressed for time lately. Generally, you
have about 30-60 minutes each day to try and do everything you can't do
while moving 75mph in a Ford ambulance. Oh yeah, and you have to
eat somewhere.
Back to the show. Next up was The
Pharmacy, from Seattle/Olympia. They were rad! Spastic
three piece that brought to mind the excitement and arrangements of The
Lights, only way more dancy. The bass player also did
simultaneous double-duty on a couple of keyboards and he really
reminded us all of Pat Phlygm (an old school Missoula legend).
They were real sweethearts and I bought a shirt and a cd. After
the Pharmacy, Incendiary played. They were from Olympia in every
sense of the world. They seemed like pretty serious cats who
appreciate poetry. In fact, their merch table was _covered_ with
zines and poetry and whatnot. What wasn't it covered with?
CDs or T-shirts. They played a good set and then we launched our
sonic assault.
I felt great about our set and I think I was
mainly inspired by the trapeze I noticed above me about 1/2 way through
the 2nd song. Yup, the venue we played at (sort of a renegade art
gallery/squat sort of deal) hosts an arial dance company that uses the
trapeze. Woah. I think it was called Synapsis?
Anyway, after Incendiary, two of the guys from Audio Wrecks did a
stripped down version of their new band which is called Eureka Garbage
Company, I think?
We sold buckets of merch and then watched some real crappy TV until we fell asleep. Ahh... tour.
