Los Angeles Part One

Since we had a day off in San Francisco, we decided to use the extra time and get a head start to LA. Not wanting to mess with traffic, we decided to stay the night in an LA suburb. It was a hassle finding a good hotel. We stopped at one and paid the guy for a room. Right after we did, this crazy guy came out of his room screaming about some phone tax the hotel had charged him. He told us we shouldn't stay there. We took his advice and went to the Motel 6 next door. They had armed security guards and everything. Shortly after setting up camp in the hotel, Bob and Chris decided to go to the store for beer. The first gas station they arrived at didn't have any. So Bob in his best manners asked the clerk, "Sir, where might one purchase a beer." The clerk exclaims, "Right across the street dog...hmmph." For some reason we all got a real kick out of that...and kept repeating it for the rest of the journey. While the guys were getting beer I ordered pizza from this Christian pizza joint called Pizza Man. At first the name didn't mean anything to me. Then I remembered a song by the punk rock band DFL called Pizza Man. It was my favorite track on the record. They were definitely talking about this place on the song. My favorite line is...."Every fucking night we get a pizza. You want pepperoni. I want extra sauce." Anyway this place ruled they had corn on the cob, ribs, fried chicken, and of course pizza. The next morning we drove into LA to pick up the colored vinyl for our new record. I tell ya it's not easy going anywhere in Los Angeles...and of course everywhere we had to go was super far away from each other. I don't know how people can drive on those freeways on a daily basis. So after running a few errands, we headed to Mr. T's bowl. Mr. T's is an old converted bowling alley. It's a pretty great bar...the clientele are very similar to Jay's Downstairs in Missoula. There were a couple of weird things about the place though. For one it was a free show. So basically we weren't gonna get paid. Also there were no free drinks. Doug and I ran up over $100 dollars on our tabs. We were buying drinks for everyone and chargin' em. The show ended up being a total blast. We played with one of my personal favorite bands...Arlo. There set was amazing! Afterwards we crashed at their place. We listened to our newly acquired vinyl and drank pink champagne. Needless to say I was super hung over the next morning. Here's some photos of the morning after.

You know when you're hung over and it's more fun than being drunk? Whether or not...that's how I was feeling that morning. I kept singing Alcohol by the Butthole Surfers! You can listen to the one line of the song that I knew... here.
