09/03/2003 Vanek jumps in...
Vanek here, this entry is happening from the Stella Star club in Helsinki, Finland. We spent the morning liesurely waking up at Peterri's cabin about an hour west of the city. Stella Star is a a roomy rock bar in the basement of a large block sized building in a mixed-use (bars, restaurants, shops) part of town.
The good people of Chainsmoker are on hand, and are pretty cool folks. Jaane from Chainsmoker provided my first taste of Fenno-freak rock when he used to front Sweetheart. Sweetheart were sort of like the Birthday Party with Moe Tucker on the skins and a shrieking psychopath howling the sounds of terror and imminent destruction. They've got some really great albums on Bad Vuugum. Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to checking out their weirdo electronic sound.
It's mightily cool for September, by the way. More like Montana October. It's a nice change!
